About

The Story

It was a quiet summer afternoon. The sun was shining through the windows of my grandmother's sunroom, the birds were chirping, and the dogs were taking their afternoon nap outside. My grandmother was sitting in her rocking chair, crocheting a tablecloth. I sat next to her feet on a little stool and asked her to teach me to crochet. This was nothing new to her, she has heard this request many times before and always responded with, "You're still too young", or "I will teach you when you grow up a bit".

But this time her response was different. She looked at me, smiled, sighed, and got up to get another crochet hook and a ball of thread. "Wait, what?" I thought, "Does this mean yes? Am I about to learn how to make the beautiful lace draped over the piano in the living room?" I was so excited, I was ready to jump for joy!

My grandmother came back with the needed tools, sat back down, and my crochet journey started there, on a beautiful sunny afternoon, at my grandmother's feet.

I grew up and was married. Children came a few years after, and life became a busy whirlwind of diapers, cooking, child-rearing, sleepless nights, and oh so much joy! And still, I crochet. I put the babies to sleep, put away the dishes, and crochet. I crochet because it is the perfect way to relax and unwind after a busy day. I create because I love being able to share my work with the world.

The Process

A lot of love and care are put into Meadoria items.  Naturally appearing materials like wood and cotton are used to keep our items as natural as possible.  A lot of effort is put into designing items that are both visually appealing and have a purpose.  Using cotton yarn for the crocheted items ensures that the item is breathable, comfortable, and durable.

The wooden components are carefully inspected, sanded, and buffed, ensuring that the surfaces are smooth.  The next step is applying our in-house blend of organic coconut oil and organic beeswax.  This conditions the wood and keeps it healthy.  The wooden beads are then assembled using a strong cord, ensuring that our items will withstand regular daily use.  Safety is of the utmost importance to us.  Our pacifier clips have been tested by a third party laboratory and have been certified as CPSC compliant.  All items are handmade in beautiful Atlanta, GA, USA.

The Faces

Do you have any idea how hard it is to have seven people look at the camera at the same time, with a somewhat normal look on their faces?  Almost unheard of!  Nevertheless, here we are, the whole team!  My husband is my biggest fan, my best idea filter, and the engine of Meadoria.  And our kiddos, oh how I love them!  They're my inspiration and the builders of strength and patience in me!  They keep us on our toes; there is so much happiness and laughter around here, all because of them!
